Nach einem Bericht von The Register dreht IBM seiner Watson IoT Plattform den Saft ab. So informierte das Unternehmen seine Kunden in einer E-Mail, dass in einem Jahr, zum 1. Dezember 2023, der Zugriff auf die APIs der Plattform nicht l\u00e4nger verf\u00fcgbar sei.<\/h2>\n

Ab Stichtag 1.12.2023 k\u00f6nnen sich Ger\u00e4te auf der Watson IoT Plattform nicht mehr mit den MQTT oder HTTP Endpunkten verbinden. Alle verbliebenen Kunden sollten sich bis dahin auf die Suche nach Alternativen machen, so die Kundenmail weiter.<\/p>\n

2015 wurde in M\u00fcnchen als Headquarters die neue IBM Watson IoT unit gegr\u00fcndet mit acht Watson IoT Client Experience Centers in Asien, Europa und dem amerikanischen Kontinent. Gr\u00fcnde f\u00fcr die Entscheidung nannte IBM auch auf Nachfrage von The Register<\/a> nicht.<\/p>\n

Big Blue hat aber auch an anderer Stelle in das Internet der Dinge investiert. Im Rahmen der Ausweitung der \u00dcberwachung und Unterst\u00fctzung von IT-Systemen k\u00fcndigte das Unternehmen die Unterst\u00fctzung von Open Horizon an, einem Open-Source-Projekt, das die autonome Verwaltung von mehr als 10.000 Edge-Ger\u00e4ten gleichzeitig leisten soll. Die in den IBM Edge Application Manager integrierte Technologie soll es erm\u00f6glichen, KI-, Analyse- und IoT-Workloads in Unternehmen zu implementieren und aus der Ferne zu verwalten.<\/p>\n

Au\u00dfer bei IBM scheinen sich auch die Erwartungen beim Tech Giganten Google nicht erf\u00fcllt zu haben. So teilte das Unternehmen bereits im August mit, im kommenden Jahr, also August 2023, seinen IoT Core abzuschalten. Auch hier haben die Kunden nur ein Jahr Zeit, Alternativen zu finden. Googles IoT Core wurde erst 2017 gegr\u00fcndet. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter k\u00fcndigte Google dann das Ende von Android Things an und bat seine Nutzer, zum Google IoT Core zu wechseln.
