RAKwireless presents new hybrid gateway platform “WisGate Connect for mioty”

RAKwireless, provider of IoT infrastructure, has introduced the “WisGate Connect for mioty” – a new industrial-grade gateway that supports both the LPWAN protocol mioty and LoRaWAN. This combination opens up new possibilities for smart cities and industrial IoT applications.

WisGate Connect: Dual-Protocol Gateway for Flexible IoT Networks
The device is based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 and modularly integrates the Miromico Miro EdgeCard for mioty as well as an optional LoRaWAN concentrator (SX1303). This enables support for two radio standards in parallel.
Robust Hardware & Versatile Connectivity
The gateway is housed in an industrial-grade enclosure and allows multi-backhaul via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or optional LTE. It features SMA connectors for mioty, LoRa, Wi-Fi, and LTE, two Ethernet ports (1 Gb and 2.5 Gb, the first with PoE support), USB ports, and a “dying-gasp” function for power failure notification.
Equipped for Edge Computing
With up to three Mini-PCIe slots and one M.2 slot, additional radio modules and storage media can be installed. Two WisBlock-IO slots offer openness for industrial interfaces such as RS485, ModBUS, or CAN – ideal for edge computing scenarios.

Focus on mioty Integration
RAKwireless recently joined the Mioty Alliance. This gateway thus represents the company’s first mioty-capable product. Thanks to the “mioty-cli” software for RAKPiOS, preconfigured mioty base stations can be easily connected and managed.
Use Cases and Market Potential
Typical applications include monitoring of industrial facilities, urban infrastructure such as intelligent lighting or waste management, as well as large-scale smart city projects. Thanks to the parallel support for mioty and LoRaWAN, higher network coverage and resilience are ensured in challenging environments.
Availability & Price
The WisGate Connect for mioty is currently available directly from the RAKstore starting at about $549 USD. Depending on the configuration (RAM, eMMC, LoRa module, LTE Cat.4), the price can increase to up to $719 USD. Prices and availability for Europe are not yet available.
Conclusion
With the WisGate Connect for mioty, RAKwireless expands its gateway portfolio with a powerful hybrid device. The combination of mioty and LoRaWAN, industrial-grade hardware, and modular expandability make it a versatile solution for modern IoT infrastructures.
